Okay, you're not sure if you should be monkeying around inside your computer. You still have a warranty, a long term service contract and everything, right? Yes, I understand. But what you don't know if that the PC support industry is slowly dying out or being outsourced overseas.

This reminds me of my discussion with the president of a Vancouver-based high-tech firm in 2002. The president wanted to retain me provided I could guarantee new money in their bank account within three days. He also emphasised that I would have to work all by myself because the guys at the company were extremely busy, and they didn't want to be interrupted with minutiae like client acquisition. To my best knowledge the company doesn't exist any longer.



Why can't I find an tech support I.T site that talks to me in a language I can understand? Information Technology is a broad term; I'm just trying to get my printer to work!

But now the time has come to think something about the rising salary of the employees in India. Foreign countries used to come to India as they found the lower labor rate in the country. But the recent survey taken place by NASSCOM suggests that the average pay scale of the employees has increased between 16 and 18%. This is really very serious matter. Because rise in the pay scale would make MNCs to search for some other overseas destinations. So the country should take some steps towards this trend. Outsourcing firms are now falling prey to mounting pay scale costs for specialized skills and talents and the requirement to constantly tech support I.T reward exercises to the market continues.

How many customers does this leave unhappy. Even one is too many. By all means have your tech team help out with internal Managed I.T support uttah. issues, but only after all customer facing issues have been resolved. In the meantime an outsourced support team can do the grunt work for the rest of your staff.

The problem is that far too many business owners call in external help too late. Just imagine. What is the point in hiring the best ship consultants to save your sinking ship after she hit an iceberg and is already 9/10 under water?
